Philosophy on Education Paper
The Philosphy on Education paper required that students write on their own personal outlook on education. They had to ponder on things such as what they believe is important in the education world to them. It was also required that they write about qualities they want to bring into their future classrooms.
Becoming a teacher was not the first or even second career I had chosen for myself. However, the older I grew, I began to ponder on what was truly important to me when I go to find a job. I have never been one to be able to sit still for hours at a time or repeatedly do the same thing day in and day out. Wanting to find an exciting, challenging, diverse, and impacting occupation I came to the conclusion that becoming an educator was the perfect fit for me.
Educators, parents, students, and the community help to change the philosophy of education thru society's view of what education should be. My personal philosphy on education is rooted in the idea that education has a lifelong impact on each student as well as teachers. Years later I want my students to be able to lookback at the time we spent together and not only feel that they had a postitive learning experience educationally, but also feel that I helped to make them a better individual.
Google states education as, "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university," as well as, "an enlightening experience." I plan to strive in creating an enlightening experience for all individuals in my classroom thru an approach that is centered around each students individual learning needs.Understanding all children will learn the best and perform optimally thru different teaching methods is crucial. By use of incorporating a variety of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic teaching I will help in creating a well-rounded classroom. Using more than one method of teaching will help to broaden the impact of each lesson on students.
Teaching cannot be effective without a strong teacher-student relationship. It is the role of both the teacher and the student to create such a bond. As a teacher, I plan to start by showing all students that I genuinely care about them as individuals as well as their education and their future. It is important for students to feel that you, as their teacher, are investing in them and how well they do. The best way to start a relationship with students and earn their trust is thru time. Spendong time with them, working with them, and getting to know them the first week of classes will set a positive tone for the relationship you will have with each student the rest of the year. It is important to not give up on a student even if they are having a difficult time trusting and building a relationship and continue to show them that you are approachable and invested in them.
It is my hope that I can become a teacher who puts her all into each and every student I encounter. I dream of being not only an educator to my students but a positive role model for them all. Although, each year my students will move on and new ones will come I want to leave a lasting impression that they can take with them into the world, helping to mold them into better indiviudals.
