Strength and Weakness Paper

 

In this paper students were required to right a paper their own personal strengths and weaknesses. This allowed the students to see areas that they personally may need to maximize performance in, in order to better their skills. It also showed them to areas in which they personally excel at.

 

   In order to become a successful individual everyone must come to the realization that they possess both strengths and weaknesses. Strengths can be defined as areas of expertise or personality traits in which we perform exceptionally well in. Wheras our weaknesses are areas where we, as individuals, fall short in. It is important for not only educators, but all individuals, to identify their weaknesses in order to begin the process of improving upon them. 

 

   Organization and craftiness are two of my strongest strengths. They are assets  in which I am very proud of and give me great satisfaction. When being an educator each year you will go thru curriculum that will continually build upon the lessons before. Organizing material that is being covered and keeping it organized until the next year will not only make being an educator much easier but will also improve the way in which I teach and in return give me more time with my students. In hopes of becoming a Kindergarten teacher, I feel that being crafty will greatly improve the type of teacher I become and the impact I will have on my students. Thru crafts I feel that I can teach them in a way they will better understand and relate to. I am hopeful that my strengths will help me to become a better educator in the future.

 

   Personally, a major weakness if find within myself is my ability to perform teamwork. As an educator it is vital to be able to effectively work together to accomplish a common goal. Often I find that when I am put into a setting that requires group work I try to take a leadership goal and have a hard time trusting others to do things as well as I, myself, could. This not only hurts me, because I am having to tackle twice the work in order to complete the task, but I am also hurting my team members due to not giving them an opportunity to become a leader and the chance to learn thru completing whatever tasks I complete for them. Learning to share the work and give away the role of a leader is something I greatly need to improve upon in order to have successful work relationships as an educator.

 

   Having a thorough understanding of ones strengths and weaknesses will help us to focus on ways in which we must spend extra time in order to grow as an educator. With time and much effort it is always possible to grow in your personal skills. We must all remember to continue to strive for better in order to do the best for us as well as our students.
